2018 February 12: Four students from Jimma University have arrived in Munich for clinical rotations, teaching and cultural exchange within the JU-LMU-OBGYN-Student-Exchange Programme.

The 4th generation of LMU exchange students had the responsibility for organisation and social programme, who went to Jimma for their exchange stay at (Department for Obstetrics and Gynecology of) Jimma University Specialized Hospital in Oktober 2017.

2017 August 16: Leonhard Schweiberer MD, professor emeritus of surgery at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich has passed away Wednesday, 16 August 2017, aged 86. Together with his friend Dr Karl Heinz Böhm, Prof Schweiberer has laid the foundations for the Link for medical education between the Jimma University and the LMU. The Link was forged in 2002, since then more than 150 staff and students of the Jimma university have visited Munich and studied at the LMU. During the same time, more than 150 students and staff of LMU have visited Jimma and studied at the JU. The JU-LMU Link was a cornerstone for the foundation of the Center for International Health at LMU in 2009.  

Our thoughts and sympathies are with his wife Ms Helgard Schweiberer and his entire family, children and grand-children.

2015 November 30 Deadline for application for the new MASTER’S IN HEALTH PROFESSIONALS EDUCATION (MHPE) program at Jimma University

2015 November 17: Dr Seifu, Jimma University, and Dr Hubertus, LMU, have won a grant from the PAGEL program of DAAD. DAAD will support implementation of fellowship training in paediatric surgery at JUSH for the project period of 4 years

2015 November 06 - 07:  Network meeting of Mental Health Masters in Addis Abeba. Forty-two graduates of the Master of Science (MSc) in Integrated Clinical and Community Mental Health have held their first national network meeting. It was organised by Ato Matiwos Soboka, MSc, from the Jimma University, and Dr Kristina Adorjan from LMU. Support was from Jimma University, LMU, DAAD, and BMZ.
